Advancing Safety Technology

More than half of AIAM member company 2008 passenger vehicles tested in frontal crashes by NHTSA received its top 5-star safety rating for drivers and passengers.

AIAM member companies have led the industry in reducing the risk of accidental injuries to children in unattended vehicles by installing push-down/pull-up power window switches and brake-transmission shift interlocks.

In advance of federal regulations, AIAM members offer more than 150 models with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), which aids drivers in controlling their vehicles, reduces single vehicle crashes by 63 percent for SUVs and 30 percent for passenger cars.

AIAM member companies are developing the next generation of safety technology, and have already introduced lane-departure warning systems, collision mitigation systems and active front head restraints.
